Why CLPP Needs You

Left text reads, “CLPP’s desire to create an environment where all voices are not just respected, but deemed necessary, serves as a call to action.” – Senti Sojwal, Sakhi for South Asian Women Background image shows a conference plenary crowd in a pink-orange gradient. Monica Simpson of SisterSong is in the foreground, highlighted, with her fist in the air.

In just three weeks, we’ll all be together, learning, connecting with each other, and building our movement at CLPP’s annual conference, From Abortion Rights to Social Justice: Building the Movement for Reproductive Freedom.

CLPP is committed to making our conference accessible to everyone so students, young grassroots activists, and others who don’t have access to funding can attend.  We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to lead, and your support helps us expand our reach at a time when we need new leadership now more than ever.

One great way to support the conference is by joining our monthly giving program! Monthly donations provide regular, reliable support, sustaining our work for the long haul. Small gifts add up, making a huge difference! It’s an investment in the present and future of resistance. Your support allows us to continue to offer registration on a sliding scale.

If you join our monthly giving program now, you will receive a few extra incentives for giving as well:

  • $5/month: reproductive justice magnetic poetry, and a digital shout out at the conference
  • $10/month: a signed copy of Undivided Rights, reproductive justice magnetic poetry, and a digital shout out at the conference
  • $25/month: a tote bag with the beautiful #CLPP2017 cover design, a signed copy of Undivided Rights, reproductive justice magnetic poetry, and a digital shout out at the conference
  • $50/month: a Repeal Hyde Art Project poster created by Megan J. Smith of your choice (limited selection), a tote bag with the beautiful #CLPP2017 cover design, a signed copy of Undivided Rights, reproductive justice magnetic poetry, and a digital shout out at the conference

To join the monthly giving program, sign up on our donate page, visit the CLPP table at the conference, or fill out the donation envelope in the conference program. You can pick up your incentives at the CLPP table at the conference. If you can't be at the conference April 7-9, incentives will be mailed to you in May.

Why do we ask for donations at the conference?

While CLPP is housed at Hampshire College, we operate like most nonprofits—raising the majority of our funds from individual donations, conference registration and sponsorships, and grants. We partially or fully subsidize conference registration costs for over 90% of participants. That means we rely on (and deeply appreciate!) your support, which allows us to continue to offer a sliding scale for people who can't afford the full cost of the conference.

Please join us in building the next generation of advocates & activists, and ensuring the conference is financially accessible for years to come.

In solidarity,

Lucy Trainor, CLPP Associate Director

P.S. We are so excited to connect with you all at the conference! Don’t forget to register and read our ever-growing list of conference speakers and workshops on our site. Make sure to say hello on Facebook, connect with us on Twitter by using the hashtag #CLPP2017, and tell everyone in your networks about the conference!
