CLPP Associate Director - External Leadership Projects

The associate director, External Leadership Projects (AD) is the lead staff member advancing CLPP's educational mission through the development and management of three major national projects: CLPP's paid summer internship program (Reproductive Rights Activist Service Corps); national activist network (New Leadership Networking Initiative); and intensive Summer Leadership Institute. The AD directs strategic program development and annual planning, infrastructure development, and implementation; program assessment; and management of program budgets, liabilities and expenditures; and acts as on-site program director for out-of-state trainings. The AD represents CLPP at the College and externally at regional, national and international meetings, and meets with and cultivates major donors and foundation supporters. The AD is responsible for managing and working collaboratively with other staff, faculty, College departments, and staff at partner organizations. This position holds supervisory responsibilities.

This is a full time grant funded position with continuation pending future funding. 

Bachelor's degree and a minimum three years of relevant experience are required; master's degree or experience working in higher education, and an understanding of student development theory, preferred. Ideal candidate has prior experience in project management and program development, planning, and implementation; social justice involvement; an alignment with mission and values; and successful prior experience working with diverse communities, including people with different racial, ethnic and class backgrounds, and people of different genders. Candidate must be computer proficient (Word, Excel, and web-based software); and have strong communication skills, both written and oral; and interpersonal skills.

The associate director will be expected to work collaboratively; prioritize multiple, competing demands; and problem-solve independently with minimal supervision. Ideal candidate possesses budget management, time management, and strategic and systematic planning and thinking, along with quantitative and qualitative analysis skills. Previous fundraising experience preferred, with comfort representing CLPP with funders, and to represent CLPP externally and nationally. Training, facilitation, and/or public speaking experience is a plus. This position requires proficiency in handling high volumes of work with multiple projects running concurrently; excellent problem solving skills; and ability to relay information and respond to correspondence in a timely manner. Previous supervisory experience, as well as practice working as a mentor to emerging activists or students is preferred. A commitment to CLPP's mission and working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This position requires a flexible work schedule which includes occasional evenings and weekends, as well as overnight travel throughout the year to national and international conferences, NLNI convenings, trainings, RRASC site visits and foundation and donor visits. 

This full time, benefited position holds a grade 7 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits program.
