CLPP Campus Program and Communications Intern Application

The Conference and Communications Intern will work with the CLPP Deputy Director of Systems and Sustainability and Operations Specialist to support CLPP's annual conference for student and community activists, From Abortion Rights to Social Justice: Building the Movement for Reproductive Freedom.

This is a spring semester position with possibility of renewal for the the full 2019-2020 academic year.

The position requires 8-10 hrs/week, with some variation depending on program workload.

  • Enrolled at Hampshire College through May 2019
  • Work-study eligibility

Job Summary

Subject to some variation, but in general, the Conference and Communications Intern will:

  • support CLPP's public conference by doing outreach and arranging event logistics
  • (preferred but not required) liaise between student group and CLPP staff at weekly evening CLPP student group meetings
  • assist CLPP Operations Specialist and Student Group Co-Coordinators with administrative tasks, including tracking speaker travel and invites; reserving vans; gathering supplies for committees
  • track and code conference travel expenses; support expense reporting
  • support the development of conference communications materials, including conference program, website, and social media
  • assist with conference evaluation and followup
  • assist with creating and maintaining spreadsheets

and support CLPP staff in other ways, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Comfort with Excel and Google Sheets
  • Familiarity with CLPP programs
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Reliable, consistent with follow up
  • Excellent communication skills, comfort asking for more instruction and/or support from supervisor, other student workers, and other CLPP staff
  • Comfort with word processing, email communication, speaking on the phone
  • Comfort with social media
  • Design/video skills and/or knowledge of Adobe suite is a plus, but not required
  • Creative thinking about ways to reach students/faculty in new and innovative ways
  • Ability to work across difference 
  • Interest/knowledge in reproductive rights and social justice issues
