Biography: Shanel George was born in the 'Spice Island' of the Caribbean, Grenada. Her early years were spent living between Grenada and Trinidad before moving on to Tortola where she now resides. She was fortunate to grow up surrounded by strong Caribbean women, who unfortunately, never realized the value of their worth in society. Thus, she is passionate about the empowerment of women in the Caribbean. As music is a big part of her culture, it could be great to see how it can be implemented as a mechanism for improving the social, political and economical status of women. Her ultimate goal is to work with authoritative bodies that work towards improving the status and quality of lives for women in developing countries.
