An Announcement about the CLPP Conference

Over the past few weeks, our staff has been carefully monitoring the potential impact of Covid-19 on our planning process for the event. On Tuesday, March 10, Hampshire College announced a ban on large gatherings so we have determined that the best way forward for the health and safety of all is to cancel the 2020 conference.

Even though we know that the safety of our staff, students, participants, and speakers is far more important than this event, we are disappointed that we won't be able to convene this dynamic, important, movement space. We've been so excited for the conference program, and most of all, getting to see you all face-to-face and building community. At the same time, we know that even if we felt it was safe to move forward with the conference, we would be excluding those in our community who are most vulnerable - elders, pregnant people, and those with underlying health concerns. In convening this annual event, our focus has always been on inclusivity and the centering of those most affected by reproductive injustice, so to move forward with an event that our entire community can't participate in would be contrary to CLPP's values.

We are currently exploring options for alternative programming that we can offer either virtually or in person in the coming months, keeping in mind that we may need to be flexible and creative as the situation unfolds. We will be in touch with you as we move forward.

For those of you who made a contribution at registration, and to our generous sponsors, we thank you for your support. Your contribution has allowed us to build conference programming, plan travel and logistics, and support our student organizers up until this point in our planning. We are happy to process refunds for registration contributions, or you have the option to convert your registration fee into a tax-deductible donation to CLPP. Anyone registered for the conference will receive an email communication from us with more information. Even though the conference will not take place, our work supporting new and emerging activists continues. Thank you again for your support and understanding.

Take care of one another and we hope to see you next April for CLPP's 40th anniversary conference!
