Bio:

I am Armonte Butler, an International & Global Studies and Women & Gender Studies double-major originally from Washington, DC though I attend Sewanee: The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. Through the Posse Foundation, a full-tuition leadership scholarship that brings students from diverse backgrounds to compete at the top colleges and universities in groups, or “Posses,” of 10, I am blessed to attend Sewanee. I am an African-American male, who is both a sophomore and social butterfly, that is interested in activism and consciousness raising. On campus I am a member of many organizations, such as the African-American Alliance and the Hispanic Organization for Latino Awareness, that challenge norms and expectations in efforts of justice. I enjoy raising awareness of issues that marginalized groups go through and working with friends. Though originally from the "North" or DC, I have truly found an interest in working on social justice issues in the South and look forward to working at SPARK RJ Now this summer as the RRASC intern.
