Summer Internship Program

Pro-Choice Public Education Project

Organization's Mission:

PEP is a national reproductive justice organization dedicated to educating and engaging young women in the issues that most impact their lives. We recognize that historically the reproductive health and rights movements have not included the perspectives or leadership of young women, women of color, and low-income women, among other marginalized groups. PEP works to close the gap between these movements and young women

Our work focuses on four areas:

  • Research
  • Communications
  • Movement-Building
  • Youth Leadership Development

Internship Description:

As a member of the Pep family, the RRASC intern will work closely with staff to develop new tools that resonate with young women. This may include a new public education campaign, trainings, fact sheets, content for our website, and other tools. S/he will also have an opportunity to attend conferences or meetings with staff where we share research findings and train activists. There may be opportunities for the RRASC intern to write for PEP’s newsletter and blogs: www.RHRealityCheck.org and www.Feministing.com. We will host a convening of our Young Women’s Leadership Council mid-August that the intern would help organize.

Skills Needed:

We are looking for candidates that possess the following:

  • Interest in or knowledge of reproductive health, rights, and justice
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to learn new things
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills

Language Requirements:

Spanish would be helpful in developing new tools for Spanish-speaking young women but is not necessary.

Location:

We are located in the Financial District in New York City, at 1 Liberty Plaza. We are near at least 10 different subway lines with easy access to Upper Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens.

Work Hours:

We offer flexible work hours – some of us are 9-5, some are 10-6. It depends on the organization’s and the intern’s needs.

Dress Code:
