Internship Application Process

  • Explore the various internship placements offered (Listings by alphabet, field, or location) - read internship descriptions on our website and visit the organizations' websites.
  • Download the application [PDF] or pick it up at the CLPP office at Hampshire College.
  • Complete the application, including choosing your top 5 picks for an internship placement. Make 3 copies of your application.
  • NOTE: If you have questions about your application before you are ready to turn it in, stop by the CLPP office during normal business hours to speak with Corinna Yazbek or a former RRASC intern before Feb. 22, 2008.
  • By March 3, 2008: Drop off the 3 copies of your application and 2 sealed recommendations (do not unseal and make copies) to the CLPP office at Hampshire College by 4pm.
  • If you are selected to move forward in the process, we will contact you to schedule an interview during the month of March. If you are not selected, we will email you to let you know by mid-March.
  • We hope to complete interviews by the beginning of April and make decisions about who we choose and where they will be placed (based on interest and best fit) before the Annual Conference. We will offer placements to chosen interns and notify others that they've been placed on a waiting list.
  • If chosen, you are expected to respond within 2 days with a firm yes or no about your placement.
  • Once we have commitments from all interns, we will notify those remaining on the waiting list that they have not been chosen.
  • Interns will contact your supervisors to negotiate start and end dates for your summer internships. Most placements are flexible, some have important events in June that they want you to help with and attend.
  • Interns will attend a 5-hour training Saturday, April 26th to learn about how to make the most of your internship, communicate with your supervisor and how your summer work relates to the movement for Reproductive Justice.
  • Once we have signed contracts from you and your supervisor, we issue the first payment of $1600.
  • During the first week, we must hear from your supervisors to confirm that you have arrived and started your work.
  • After 5 weeks, you will write and submit to CLPP a confidential mid-term report. Upon receipt, we will issue the second payment of $1200.
  • When you return to the Valley, you will write a final report to be put on the website. You will also schedule an exit interview, after which we will issue the final payment of $200.

If you still have questions about the process after exploring our website, please contact Corinna Yazbek.
