Spring 2012 NLNI Meeting
On April 12 and 13, 47 members of CLPP’s New Leadership Networking Initiative (NLNI) gathered in Amherst, MA, for intensive discussions, concentrated learning, and cross-movement networking. On Friday, a panel of speakers addressed the theme of solidarity from various viewpoints. Small group discussions following the panel focused on how to build solidarity with immigrants, people in prison, Indigenous people, women of color, youth, and across class.

Fall 2011 NLNI Meeting

The fall NLNI meeting convened in Los Angeles on October 27 and 28, 2011. In response to participant suggestions, this meeting centered black women’s experiences with racism in reproductive health, rights, and justice work. The meeting also provided the opportunity for participants to reflect on NLNI’s history and mission, and the network’s core values, infrastructure, and planning processes.

Spring 2011 NLNI Meeting
The spring 2011 meeting of CLPP’s New Leadership Networking Initiative (NLNI) convened at Hampshire College in conjunction with our annual activist conference. Fifty-nine network members attended the meeting. Trainers from Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP) and Brown Boi Project created a workshop entitled Room for Us All: Envisioning Gender Self Determination in the Reproductive Justice Movement. This interactive training helped participants examine their assumptions around gender and privilege, building on conversations begun at previous NLNI meetings.

Fall 2010 NLNI Meeting
Fall 2010 NLNI Meeting

NLNI’s fall 2010 meeting in Chicago focused on local and regional organizing in the Midwest, in collaboration with long-time NLNI member organizations Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health (ICAH), Chicago Abortion Fund, and Black Women for Reproductive Justice (BWRJ), and with newer NLNI organizations including Ella’s Daughters and Young Women’s Empowerment Project (YWEP). The Chicago meeting was part of a new initiative by CLPP to convene the network regionally, strengthening regional collaboration and network membership outside the Northeast, and sharing best practices from NLNI members across the country.
