The spring meeting of the New Leadership Networking Initiative (NLNI) was held on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Hampshire College. Over 50 reproductive rights & social justice activists met and attended the following panels:
Understanding the Right: A Prerequisite for Reproductive Justice
Facilitated by: Pam Chamberlain, Political Research Associates
While the Christian Right has been busy opposing abortion, the Right has been skillful in fashioning an interconnected set of strategies, including attacks on emergency contraception, the HPV vaccine, welfare, and immigrant “anchor babies.” What are the threads that tie these strategies together? How does examining this web further reproductive justice?
Disability Reproductive Justice: Where Our Movement Fits
Facilitated by: Stacey Milbern, National Youth Leadership Network, Naomi Ortiz, Kids As Self Advocates, Rachel Scoggins, Arts for All
Are you interested in learning about the disability community? Join us in moving forward with access, self-determination, and disability pride! We will discuss the disability rights movement, disability identity, and what’s happening in the disability community with sexual reproductive justice.
Balancing Our Own Joy
Facilitated by: Cara Page, Committee on Women, Population & the Environment, Adaku Utah, Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health
This experience will help you to find and sustain things that ground you or bring you back to your center in work, life and play. Using breath, sound, free writing, movement and guided meditation we will introduce practices that help to center the mind/body/spirit for use in our day to day organizing lives and our movements.
