Freedom of speech lies at the heart of several cutting-edge controversies in law and reproductive rights today: from "informed consent" laws that require doctors to deliver state-scripted speech about abortions and a woman's decision to obtain one, to recent attempts by cities to force crisis pregnancy centers to post signs acknowledging that they do not provide for or refer for abortion services. Kara will provide an overview of challenges to these regulations, and the outcomes so far, and also discuss the models for decision-making underlying these new laws.
