Biography: Elise is a Long Beach, CA native who is going into her final semester at Smith College this coming Fall. She took a year off between high school and college to pursue a Pilates Teacher Certification before she entered Long Beach City College where she discovered Anthropology and transferred to Smith a year and a half later. Being at Smith she has loved discovering her own history through Latin American studies as well as the Study of Women and Gender department. Elise spent last summer interning at the Audre Lorde Project in New York City and is really looking forward to working in the Bay this summer with Justice Now. Currently, she is a co-chair of Smith’s Peer Sexuality Educators and enjoys spreading sex positivity around campus through events, workshops, and zines! In addition to running around like an over-worked college student, Elise also enjoys interning at Tapestry Health in Northampton, laying in the sunshine, being queer, dancing, pupusas, and watching Mad Men with her Mom. Elise is looking forward to working at Justice Now because its premise is prison abolition as a means to reduce violence against women.
